The Fundación Tres Culturas begins the new year by dedicating its January programme to Jewish culture.
Among the programmed activities, on Thursday 19th we celebrate a concert by the klezmer group Klezmerama Ensemble, which works the repertoire of klezmer music and the rich culture of Yiddish theatre, (original from the Jewish branch of the Eastern countries), respecting their original texts in Yiddish and also adapting them lyrically to Spanish and English.
Klezmer music is characterised by its festive rhythms, melancholic melodies and poetic lyrics. A very aesthetically and musically interesting sound combination that vividly celebrates joy but at the same time feels nostalgic and homesick.
As well as interpreting these songs in a traditional way, Klezmerama uses a more modern and electronic language capable of moving sensibilities and at the same time making the audience dance. The group's style, led by the electric violin, mixes rock, rap, rumba, funk and tango rhythms, transporting the audience to a new world, rich in tradition and innovation.
Klezmerama is formed by Heidi Erbrich, electric violin (England); Eva Domingo, percussions (Valencia); Paul FitzGerald, electric bass (Ireland, USA); Pau Barberà, accordion (Ontinyent) and Sónnica Yepes, vocals (Spain, Germany).
Free admission with prior registration at THIS LINK.
This activity is subsidised by the Junta de Andalucía, within the framework of the subsidy granted by the Consejería de la Presidencia, Interior, Diálogo Social y Simplificación Administrativa (Regional Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification).
