Details

  • Start: 22 October 2015
  • End: 19 December 2015

The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation continues its commitment to the promotion of Mediterranean writers through the Three with Books project, on this occasion we propose the reading of A long sleep in Tangier (Almuzara), the new novel by the writer and translator Antonio Lozano.

The Tangier-born author presents us with one of his most intimate works. To do so, he dives into his memories, extracting sensations, smells and sounds that permeate the plot of the work, and he does so through his protagonist, a woman who relives her past to give meaning to her life.

Antonio Lozano (Tangier, 1956)

A graduate in Translation and Interpreting, he lives in Agüimes (Gran Canaria), where he was Councillor for Culture between 1987 and 2003. He is the director of the Festival del Sur-Encuentro Teatral Tres Continentes and the Festival Internacional de Narración Oral 'Cuenta con Agüimes'.

His first novel, Harraga (Zoela, 2002), was praised by writers such as Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, Dulce Chacón and Fernando Marías. Winner of the 1st Novelpol Prize for the best crime novel published in Spain, she received a special mention from the Jury of the 2003 Silverio Cañada Memorial Prize for the best first crime novel, organised by the Semana Negra de Gijón. His second novel, Where rivers die (Almuzara, 2007), was a finalist for the 1st Brigada 21 Prize. He is also the author of The Sankara case (Premio Internacional de Novela Negra Ciudad de Carmona, Almuzara, 2006), The Ashes of Baghdad (Almuzara, 2009) and The shadow of the Minotaur (Almuzara, 2011).
