MOROCCO IN SPAIN: Arab Orchestra of Barcelona in Concert

Details

  • Start: 10 October 2013
  • End: 11 October 2013

The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, in collaboration with the Ministry in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad, is organising a concert performance in Seville by the Arab Orchestra of Barcelona.

Born in the heart of a city as Mediterranean as it is international, where languages and senses mix, the Orquestra Arabe de Barcelona is a magnificent example of integration, since in its formation Arab and Catalan musicians share space, professionals trained in different disciplines - from classical music to the traditional music of the Maghreb and the Middle East, passing through the raithe jazzand electronics.

The musical proposal of the Barcelona Arab Orchestra (OAB) is unique, distant and close at the same time, as it arises from the fusion of styles and cultures. In its repertoire, the OAB reinterprets traditional themes from different parts of the Mediterranean, but with personal nuances.

The voices of Mohamed Soulimane and Ayoub Bout, accompanied by violin, lute, percussion and guitars by Aziz el-Jodari, Joan Rectoret and other musicians serve as a tool to convey the OAB's message: to become the voice of immigrants, to explain their culture and to fuse it musically.

In this video you can enjoy a preview of what we will enjoy next Thursday in the Andalusian Gardens of the Foundation. The summer season is coming to an end and this open-air concert is a magnificent finale.
