THE SEA LOOKS AT US FROM AFAR

Manuel Muñoz Rivas, Spain, 2017, 93 min.

Between documentary and fiction, the legend of an ancient and forgotten civilisation lies buried under vast expanses of dunes in southern Spain. For more than a century, travellers have arrived in this remote territory in search of the traces of ancient inhabitants, perhaps the remains of a city buried by the sands, or perhaps a sort of lost utopia. Ignorant of these myths and the romantic illusions of archaeologists and adventurers, a few men, barely visible among the sands, today live in solitude in this place facing the sea.
