Cinema, women and the Mediterranean come together in this cycle that aims to be a meeting point for filmmaking from both sides of the Mediterranean and a vindication of the visibility of women and their creations. The films that will be screened in our cinema focus on the messages and visions of women directors who show the different realities of neighbouring countries and claim their own spaces, voices and styles to tell their stories, highlighting the diversity of the Mediterranean through their gazes.
With these proposals, we will enter a villa, Villa Toumawhere time has been stopped by the Palestinian director Suha Arraf. On 8 March, with the screening of ConstituentsWe will pay tribute to the first Spanish women who took part in politics in the constituent legislature of 1977 and, thanks to Oliva Acosta's documentary, we will learn how they lived that time.
In the next session, we will feel the oppression and anguish of the young Tunisian director Leyla Bouzid, who shows us through her film how the Arab Spring developed in her country. In the last session, with Rock the CasbahWe will participate in a mourning through the vision of different women from the family of the Moroccan director Laila Marrakchi.

As I Open My Eyes

Synopsis
Tunisia, summer 2010, just a few months after the revolution. Farah, 18, has just finished high school and her family already sees her studying medicine. But she does not share this desire. She sings in a politically committed rock band, gets drunk and spends her nights discovering love and her city against the wishes of her mother Hayet, who knows Tunisia and its dangers all too well.
Winner of the Europa Cinemas Label Award at the Venice Film Festival.
The screening, which will begin at 8.30 p.m. with free admission until full capacity is reached, will be in the original version with Spanish subtitles.
