Synopsis
If in his magnificent medium-length film Les jours d'avantKarim Moussaoui portrays the Algerian "black years" from the point of view of two teenagers. In his first feature film, he portrays three characters from different generations and social situations through whom he explores the symptoms of a society that has not managed to overcome the dullness following the civil war. This triptych in which the witness to an assault chooses not to get involved, a young woman has a moment of doubt on her way to another city to get married and a doctor is assailed by a dark secret from the past, moves forward like a game of postcards in which the characters find themselves with the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions and their futures. A director who never loses hope that one day the swallows will finally arrive in Algeria. Christian L. Mouroux
