The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is once again collaborating with the Cordoba African Film Festival (FCAT) in their joint work to disseminate the film heritage of that continent, in order to contribute to the development of African and Arab culture and film industries, promoting greater understanding between peoples.

During this month, within the cycle Cinema and DiversityThe 12th edition of this event, which closed in Cordoba on 28 March with an outstanding list of winners, will screen some of the award-winning films, characterised by the diversity of origin of the award-winning films. Among them, we highlight The Salvation Armya film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Abdellah Taïa, winner of the Award for Best Fiction Feature Film; or Things of the Aimless Wandererby Rwandan director Kivu Ruhorahoza, which won the Audience Award, as well as a special mention from the jury.

The Best Actress Award went to Egyptian Horreya Farghaly, starring in the film Decorbrings us the third film in this cycle, which is completed with the documentary film Beats of the AntonovAward for Best Documentary Feature Film.

L'Armée du Salut

Film directed by Abdellah Taïa (Morocco, 2013, 81 minutes).

Synopsis

A subtle film adaptation of the novel of the same name, written by the director himself, it presents the construction of sexual identity without drama. In a working-class neighbourhood of Casablanca, Abdellah, a gay teenager, tries to order his life in the context of his large family, trapped between an authoritarian mother and an older brother he adores.

Award for Best Fiction Feature Film at FCAT 2015.

This film series has been programmed as part of the parallel cultural activities of the CUDEMA2 Project within the Month of Cultural Diversity. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
