As part of the activities programmed for our Cultural Diversity Month, at Fundación Tres Culturas we have prepared a film series that highlights the value of difference and everything that helps us to understand the value of diversity, promoting peaceful and enriching coexistence.

Synopsis
Sonita, an 18-year-old Afghan girl, entered Iran without papers and makes a living in the suburbs of Tehran. Her young, energetic and vital spirit makes her fight for her dream of becoming a rap singer, despite strong opposition from her family. Her passion for music clashes with the plans of her mother, who wants to marry her off in exchange for money and has already set a bride price of $9,000.
Through her low-budget songs and music videos, we discover a charismatic artist, determined to speak about the harsh reality around her with a shocking honesty. How can she break free from a repressive environment and live the life she wants? The YouTube success of the music video Brides for SaleThe song, inspired by their struggle, opens a door of hope to change their destiny.
The director Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami is personally involved in Sonita's future and her intervention makes us reflect on the position of filmmakers in relation to the protagonists of their films. A fascinating portrait of a girl in the midst of a creative explosion, which contrasts with the lack of freedom of the society in which she has had to live.
