Details

  • Start: 25 March 2020
  • End: 29 March 2020

Within the programme of activities to enjoy at home 'Three Cultures with you', the Foundation offers the screening of the documentary 'The Alhambra at stake' by José Sánchez Montes, one of the filmmakers most committed to Andalusian culture and its cinema and to whom we are grateful for his collaboration in this initiative.

Sánchez Montes has been the director of the Cines del Sur Festival in Granada since 2007. His previous work as a producer includes titles such as 'La Isla Mínima' and 'The City of Death'. In the documentary genre he has produced, among others, 'Bola de nieve', 'Morente sueña la Alhambra', 'Maresca, palabra a palabra,' 'Martirio', 'Me acuerdo perfectamente' and 'Omega'.

La Alhambra en juego' is his latest work, which has not yet been released on screen. For its production he has relied on a team of top-level experts: the restorer Ramón Rubio; the writer Carolina Molina, a specialist in the 19th century; the curator of the Alhambra, Jesús Bermúdez; the professors Julián Esteban Chapapría, María del Mar Villafranca -one of the greatest experts on the work of Leopoldo Torres Balbás- and Antonio Malpica; the journalist Gabriel Pozo; the architects Pedro Salmerón and Fernando de Terán, a disciple of Torres Balbás; the musicologist Reynaldo Fernández Manzano, and witnesses to history such as Ángela Barrios, daughter of the composer Ángel Barrios, and Rafael Torres, son of Leopoldo Torres Balbás.
