Once again this year, the Fundación Tres Culturas is committed to showing the duende and mystery of flamenco through film.
Both in the past and nowadays, many filmmakers have immersed themselves in getting to know, investigating and bringing to the screen the great figures of flamenco singing, dancing and guitar playing. In this cycle we will be able to enjoy "Fandango", one of the most diverse forms of Flamenco by the award-winning director Remedios Malvárez and Arturo Andújar. We will learn more about the Malaga coplero Miguel Molina through the eyes of the prolific director Paco Millán and the letters received and sent by the protagonist. We will also delve into the artistic trajectory of two great and renowned artists with the director Alexis Morente from Algeciras: "Camarón: Flamenco and revolution" and Sergio Crespo, "El Lebrijano, a universal gypsy".
🎬 EL LEBRIJANO, A UNIVERSAL GYPSY
Sergio Crespo, Spain, 2025, 98 min.
Synopsis: A journey through the life of "El Lebrijano", his character and his ability to explore new paths. The best example was his record "Encuentros" (1985) in which he joined his flamenco singing to the Orquesta Andalusí de Tánger, something completely disruptive in the musical panorama of the time, and which marked a new direction in flamenco singing. El Lebrijano represents committed singing, because he not only wanted to change music, but also society, as those who knew him say. His stature is demonstrated by the mark he left and the fact that he achieved milestones such as being one of the first cantaores to perform at the Teatro Real, an operatic centre.
🗣️ Presentation by director Sergio Crespo and producer Juan Cabral.
