Once again this year, the Fundación Tres Culturas is committed to showing the duende and mystery of flamenco through film.
Both in the past and nowadays, many filmmakers have immersed themselves in getting to know, investigating and bringing to the screen the great figures of flamenco singing, dancing and guitar playing. In this cycle we will be able to enjoy "Fandango", one of the most diverse forms of Flamenco by the award-winning director Remedios Malvárez and Arturo Andújar. We will learn more about the Malaga coplero Miguel Molina through the eyes of the prolific director Paco Millán and the letters received and sent by the protagonist. We will also delve into the artistic trajectory of two great and renowned artists with the director Alexis Morente from Algeciras: "Camarón: Flamenco and revolution" and Sergio Crespo, "El Lebrijano, a universal gypsy".
🎬 EARTHQUAKE, THE DOCUMENTARY
Álvaro Mayoral y Nacho Rojas, Spain, 2020 - 70 min
Synopsis: Nobody dies as long as he is alive in our memories. Hidden from the general public, Terremoto de Jerez is the key to the history of flamenco in Spain. This documentary reveals the incredible life of an unlikely hero: gypsy, illiterate, born into poverty and uneducated, but precisely because of this, he embodied the duende in a natural and genuine way. Through direct testimonies, hundreds of photographs and black and white recordings, we rescue from oblivion the best flamenco singer in history, Terremoto de Jerez. Our protagonist is an unlikely hero: gypsy, illiterate, born in misery and uneducated, but precisely because of this, he embodied the duende in a natural and genuine way. His style, a paradigm of black sounds, represents the sublimation of cante jondo.
