Alalah (Joy). Remedios Malvarez. 2016, Spain, 80 min.
A social story about the Tres Mil viviendas neighbourhood in Seville, one of the most impoverished areas in our country. Here, Emilio Caracafé set up a flamenco academy, with his own means, dedicated to children at risk of exclusion. This humble school tries to bring hope and new opportunities to its students, while keeping its inhabitants united through the common language of flamenco.
This documentary directed by Remedios Malvarez features the collaboration of the cantaor Arcángel, the musician Raimundo Amador, who is one of the most beloved neighbours in the neighbourhood, the dancer Israel Galván, winner of the National Dance Prize, as well as Rosario La Tremendita and Pastora Galván.
Activity carried out with the funding of the Seville City Council within the framework of the programme Seville, land of diversity.
