The Fundación Tres Culturas is once again celebrating the diversity of cultures with a film series dedicated to highlighting what is different and promoting everything that helps us to understand the need for diversity as part of the common heritage of humanity.

Film has the power to illustrate different ways of living, understanding and participating in the world, bringing new perspectives and also different ways of resolving conflicts. Cultural diversity thus contributes to the solution of common problems and the search for creative answers to the main conflicts of Humanity, mainly those related to peace and solidarity.

This cycle is part of the celebration of May as Cultural Diversity Month, given that Friday 21 is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, which promotes peaceful and enriching coexistence among all the peoples that inhabit the planet.

The films and documentaries proposed in this cycle open the doors to beautiful landscapes and distant languages in order to highlight the value of human interrelation, the key to peaceful coexistence and to a shared social future.

About Edgardo Bechara Elkhoury

Born in Buenos Aires, of Lebanese origin by paternal grandfather, his identification with the Arab world made his spirit of strength, passion and perseverance a credo. His mission was to build bridges, create networks between the regions of the South and work for a world in which peoples can live together in harmony. The firm conviction that "the future is south-south" led him to study Political Science at the University of Buenos Aires, specialising in International Relations with a focus on politics and culture in the Arab world. He was executive director of Cine Fértil and of the prestigious LatinArab International Festival, of which he was the founder.

From the beginning, he toured the cultural centres of Buenos Aires promoting Arab cinema. He travelled to Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, fostering co-production agreements with Argentina, which materialised in the first Arab Film Festival of Argentina and Latin America, and encouraged audiovisual production by young filmmakers to tell stories from both regions.

LatinArab has managed to position itself during 2018 and 2019 at the Cannes Film Festival as one of the 100 most relevant players in the Arab film industry according to Arab Cinema Magazine.
