November 2014 saw the start of the 2014-2015 edition of the Master in International Relations, organised by the International University of Andalusia in collaboration with the Pablo de Olavide University and the Three Cultures Foundation.
The Masters in International Relations are present in the most prestigious universities, both in Europe and the United States, each of them adapting the content of the Masters to the interests of the region in which they are located, although they all share common elements.
The Master in International Relations is a multidisciplinary master's degree that integrates knowledge of International Relations and the study of international society from a historical, economic, legal and socio-cultural perspective, in which international relations are developed.
It is the only one taught in this speciality within the map of Andalusian degrees. There are currently two Andalusian universities, the University of Granada and the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, which offer a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Administration, for which the Master's Degree would be an ideal complement to complete training in international fields.
Graduates from degrees such as Political Science and Administration, Humanities, Journalism, Law, Economics, Sociology or Environmental Sciences, among others, are eligible to apply. It is also open to professionals from different professional fields: consular representations in Andalusia, journalists or civil servants from the regional, central or local administration.
Objectives
The Master's Degree in International Relations aims to train graduates in various academic fields, focusing on the Mediterranean, especially the Arab world, Latin America and the European Union, the three main points of reference for Andalusia's international projection. All this would be preceded by a general part in which the basic aspects of International Relations would be dealt with, both its history and its sociology, politics, geopolitics, legal system and jurisprudence, economy and general current state, which is particularly important in a world as mutable and sometimes confusing as that of the beginning of the 21st century.
With the aim of promoting the study of International Relations and offering elements for reflection and understanding of the international context, the first objective is to offer a prestigious Master's degree that can serve all those graduates who wish to develop a research and professional career with an international profile or related to foreign action.
On the other hand, the strengthening of international organisations as actors in world politics, the globalisation of the economy, the generation of supranational blocs, and the consequent state independence make knowledge of international relations, community and national institutions, as well as specialised NGOs, increasingly necessary. Therefore, the second objective is to promote the study of International Relations, as a multidisciplinary reference, which acquires great relevance within the current complex panorama, in which globalisation and economic, political and cultural heterogeneity are the main protagonists.
The third objective is to offer comprehensive training on current international relations in three main areas: Mediterranean and Arab World, Latin America, and European Union, addressing, among other topics, international relations, development cooperation, the evolution of integration processes in Europe and Latin America, as well as the incipient projection of infra-state entities abroad, with special attention to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.
