The Fundación Tres Culturas, in collaboration with the Sitara publishing house, is organising the presentation of the book An abandoned sitethe first novel by the translator, political scientist and columnist Mohamed El Morabet (Al Hoceima, 1983). He will be accompanied by the writer and traveller Eduardo Jordá.

El Morabet, born in the Moroccan Rif but settled in Spain since his adolescence, belongs to that still small group of young writers of Maghrebi origin who are already part not only of society but also of Spanish literature, having chosen the language of their adopted country, a phenomenon already long established in countries such as France, England and Germany, but still recent in Spain, where it is represented above all by the Catalan Najat El Hachmi. As Sergio del Molino has said, "Mohamed represents the avant-garde of the literature of the future".

An abandoned site tells the story of a Moroccan translator based in Madrid (not exactly Morabet's alter ego, though perhaps there are similarities) who travels to Al Hoceima, his hometown, in the hope of reaching his grandmother's funeral. A journey that mixes the flight from a disoriented life with the desire to find in the past some key to the future, merging reality with dreams, elaborate literary narration with non-existent texts in an oral language, the Morocco of our times with the patterns of incomprehension that every immigrant carries with him. A text to go round in circles.

Activity included in the month dedicated to Morocco.
