The headquarters of the Fundación Tres Culturas hosts various cultural activities celebrating one of the most important festivities for the Christian religion around the world, Christmas.

This year, in collaboration with the Seville Association of Nativity Scene Makers and the Andalusian Federation of Nativity Scene Makers, the Foundation is offering an exhibition of a work by Francisco Anguas Bouza, a member of the aforementioned association, which is part of the nativity scene tradition of the diorama.

The scene, composed of several Hebrew figures, takes place in a landscape setting reminiscent of the Arab world, including in the foreground an allusion to the well of Beersheba, which still exists in Israel and which is one of the places that reminds us of Abraham.

The Nativity Scene will be inaugurated on 15 December at 20.00 h. and will be open to the public until 9 January 2024 at the following times:

From 18 to 22 December, Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

From 24 to 6 January, Monday to Thursday from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

26 and 27 December, from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Weekends and public holidays closed

On the same day, the inauguration will be followed by a Christmas concert by the Chamber Orchestra of Seville. Access to the concert will be free by invitation, which can be booked at THIS LINK.

Further information

The history of nativity scenes dates back to Christmas Eve 1223, when Saint Francis of Assisi prepared a living nativity scene in the cave of Greccio. This first nativity scene in history was such a success that the tradition spread first in Italy, reaching Spain in the 18th century.

On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of this event, in the current year 2023, the Seville Association of Nativity Scene Makers has been commissioned by the Spanish Federation of Nativity Scene Makers and the International Federation (UN-FOE-PRAE) to organise the LXI National Congress and the XXII International Congress of Nativity Scene Makers, which will take place from 29 October to 5 November in Seville under the title "Nativity Scene Makers of Seville". Franciscus 1223-2023, with the participation of more than 600 congress participants of 17 nationalities. The congress includes visits to Cordoba, Jerez, San Fernando and Mollina.
