Celebrating culture in Alexandria, the cultural capital of the Mediterranean

The Three Cultures Foundation takes its cultural action for the first time to the city of Alexandria in Egypt thanks to the call of the Anna Lindh Foundation. Mediterranean Capitals of Culture and Dialogue (MCCD) in Alexandria. Euro-Med to Med-Capital. Alexandria Edition.

In cooperation with the Anna Lindh Foundation and the support of the Cervantes Institute in Alexandria, the Foundation proposes two enriching activities that bring together citizens of the Mediterranean area. On the one hand, a concert open to the public with a repertoire of Spanish lyric by the young Andalusian musicians: the soprano Aurora Galán and the pianist Jesús de Sancha. Together, they will perform pieces by Spanish composers such as Manuel de Falla, Andalusian poets such as Federico García Lorca, and classics by Sebastián Iradier and María Rodrigo, among others, highlighting the role of women in music.

In the days following the concert, individualised sessions will be held as a masterclass in vocal technique aimed at a group of 8 young girls living in Alexandria with the intention of deepening the vocal study and musical preparation of young women.

This activity is supported by European funding through the Anna Lindh Foundation together with other funds from the Three Cultures Foundation.
