The Fundación Tres Culturas, the French Institute of Seville and Norma Editorial, with the collaboration in Cordoba of the Filmoteca de Andalucía, are organising the presentation of the graphic novel The Cordoba bibliomula, by the scriptwriter Wilfrid Lupano and the cartoonist Léonard Chemineau.
The presentation of this deluxe edition is part of the celebration of the Foundation's 25th anniversary and has been organised in two Andalusian cities: at the headquarters of the Fundación Tres Culturas, in Seville, on Tuesday 19 March at 7 p.m.; and at the Filmoteca de Andalucía in Córdoba, on Wednesday 20 March at 7 p.m., coinciding with International Francophone Day.
Throughout its 264 pages and through the adventures of its main characters, The Cordoba bibliomula tells a story that takes place at the end of the 10th century, when the death of Alhaken II left the Caliphate of Cordoba in the hands of Almanzor, the heir's guardian, who ordered the burning of thousands of books from the city's library. A mule led by a thief and a couple of slaves manage to save a few volumes, turning their efforts into a vindication of the importance of culture as the last barrier against the advance of totalitarianism.
Both events will be attended by the play's scriptwriter, Wilfrid Lupano. She will act as presenter Carmen GonzálezUniversity lecturer and specialist in Al-Andalus.
