This monograph examines in depth the components of traditional Andalusian culture, from which significant links can be established with the enormous Alphonsine work, and with which it is possible to connect the contemporary elements with historical events of this figure so fundamental to the medieval Andalusian universe.
Laureano Fernández Távora has participated in this issue with an exhaustive review of the intricate family tree of the Castilian monarch, a map of kinship relationships that shed light on many of Alfonso's projects, especially his imperial aspirations. The importance of the Islamic model, of the figure of the caliph in the conception of the relations between power and kingship in the monarchy of Alfonso X is dealt with by Professor Emilio González Ferrín. The archaeologist Pilar Lafuente brings us the universe of ceramics and the clay trades in the late medieval Seville of the Alfonso X years, and finally, Antonio Zoido searches for many of the origins of the Spanish archetypes that were forged in the medieval years but which were later projected throughout the Iberian Peninsula and the Americas.
