We at the Fundación Tres Culturas consider it essential to highlight the value of the Jewish legacy in its cultural and historical dimension. In this effort to bring Judaism closer to our public, on 7 March, at 6.30 p.m., we will be presenting at our headquarters the work What is Judaism?by Pedro Giménez de Aragón Sierra.
This is a book with an eminently informative character that confronts a question that is not as simple as it seems. Because Judaism is not only a religion (there are atheist Jews), nor an ethnicity (there are Sephardic Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, Falashas, etc.), but all of this and also a cultural concept.
The author explores the evolution of Judaism with a historical and critical approach - while reflecting on its links with Christianity and Islam - in order to understand (and bring readers closer to) its past and present, in an effort to predict its future.
Pedro Giménez de Aragón Sierra holds a PhD in Ancient History from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, where he teaches History of Judaism in the Master's Degree in Religious Sciences. He has published numerous academic articles on Judaism and Christianity in Antiquity, and is the author of works such as Qumran and the origins of Judeo-Christian political thought o History of Mediterranean religions.
At the presentation ceremony, the author will talk to Julio Azancot Yánez, Honorary Consul of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Seville.
