The Tres con libros reading club, which has been promoting reading and the dissemination of Mediterranean authors for fifteen years, is one of the most consolidated attractions of the cultural agenda of the Fundación Tres Culturas. More than ninety books have formed part of a programme that has offered more than 6000 participants access to the culture, history, customs and feelings of the Mediterranean basin. A club that, above all, has created an atmosphere of passionate, lively, constructive and human debate.
In the first quarter of 2024, Three with books began by showing us a slice of Arab society with the Moroccan Mohamed Achaari and his work The bow and the butterfly, by Turner Publishers. Silence and anger by Pierre Lemaitre published by Salamandra, showed us post-war France and we discovered the Pelletier family. On horseback, Antonio Lozano, shows us in A long sleep in Tangier published by Almuzara, one of his most intimate works, in which he tells us how relations between Spaniards and Moroccans were experienced in the Morocco of his childhood. At Sweet songby Leila Slimani, published by Cabaret Voltaire, we question family and social structures. On the other hand, Camus. Between justice and mother, (Norma Editorial) by José Lenzini, is a graphic novel that, through vignettes, has brought us closer to the much-needed figure of Albert Camus.
In this way, Tres con libros has been expanding, moving away from being a simple reading club. We have nurtured and benefited by providing these book lots to other Andalusian towns such as La Algaba, Lucena and Cartaya. Our batches are still on the move, The Cordoba bibliomula by Wilfrid Lupano from Norma Editorial, has been and is a comic that continues its course through the book clubs. Coming soon, Sugar-freeby Mireia Estrada (Cuatro Lunas), will be coming through our doors.
This first quarter of 2024, Three with books on the move, has done precisely what its name suggests, moving, expanding, filling public libraries, schools and providing them with pages and pages of knowledge, entertainment and Mediterranean culture.
