    20:30 - 21:30

Tamar Ilana & Ventanas is a musical group created in Toronto (Canada), led by the researcher, singer and dancer Tamar Ilana.

Drawing on the cultural and musical backgrounds of its members, which include flamenco, Sephardic, indigenous, classical, jazz and other rhythms, they recreate Mediterranean melodies and flamenco rhythms, mixing contemporary interpretations of ancient romances with original compositions.

Tamar, of Jewish and indigenous origin, accompanied her mother, the renowned ethnomusicologist Judith R. Cohen, on her travels around the world, both in the field of her research and on stage. With her he performed several concerts in Spain (Sephardic Festival of Cordoba, Casa de la Memoria Seville, Casa Sefarad Cordoba, Medieval Festival of Ribadavia, Institut de Música Jueva Barcelona) and in Morocco, France, Portugal, England, Bulgaria, Israel, Greece and Turkey.

Tamar has lived in Seville, Barcelona, and Paris, where she has studied and worked with great artists. She is also the artistic and executive director of the artistic presentation organisation FabCollab.

In 2011, Tamar returned to Toronto and started her project Ventanas. This is the first time she returns to Spain with her own, to offer us a concert that mixes Sephardic and Diaspora music with flamenco song and dance.
