The Tres con Libros reading club, one of the most consolidated attractions of the cultural agenda of the Fundación Tres Culturas, was launched in 2009 and has been promoting the reading and dissemination of Mediterranean authors for ten years.

More than 60 books, more than 40 authors and more than 6000 participants have been part of this programme, thanks to which the reader has had access to the reality of very different countries, their history and customs, the way of thinking and feeling of their inhabitants, beyond clichés and prejudices. All this in an atmosphere of lively, passionate and constructive debate.

The work of Tres con Libros is not limited to the space of our headquarters: thanks to our rotating loan system, numerous libraries and institutions in Andalusia and Morocco have been able to enjoy the lots that we make available to them. In the case of secondary schools, our commitment to the dissemination of reading has focused on the field of comics. The social dimension of this project is also reflected in the launch of a parallel club at the Seville Social Insertion Centre, which began in 2012 and culminated in 2014, with the aim of bringing reading to prisons as well.

Throughout this journey, we have been able to count on the Fundación Tres Culturas with leading Spanish writers such as Lorenzo Silva, Carlos Zanón, Antonio Lozano, Najat El Hachmi, Patricia Almarcegui and Esther Bendahan, and on an international level, making known their works translated into Spanish, with Abdellatif Lâabi (Morocco), Leila Slimani (France-Morocco), Salwa al Neimi (Syria), Buket Uzuner (Turkey), Petros Márkaris (Greece), Tahar Ben Jelloum (Morocco), Marcello Fois (Italy), Yasmina Khadra (Algeria), Hubert Haddad (Tunisia-France), Angel Wagenstein (Bulgaria), Boualem Sansal (Algeria), Lidia Jorge (Portugal), Alaa Al-Aswany (Egypt), Mathias Enard (France), Zeina Abirached (Lebanon) and Nir Baram (Israel), among others.

To commemorate the tenth anniversary, on Tuesday 29 January at 18:00 h, the clubs Three with Books and Generating ReadingsThe María Zambrano Documentation Centre of the Andalusian Women's Institute will meet with Najat El Hachmi, a leading figure in young Mediterranean literature today, to talk to her about the bond that unites readers and writers.
