The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is launching a new initiative under the name of Aula al-Ándalus. Introduction to Andalusian Heritage Programme', with the aim of offering future tourist guides a rigorous and accessible approach to the Andalusian legacy of our region. The project, which is part of the Chair of al-Andalus, aims to provide students with historical, cultural and heritage tools that will enable them to interpret and communicate one of the most influential periods in our history. Each edition will have a generic section dedicated to the history, art and architecture of al-Andalus, as well as a specific focus on the city in which the programme is taught, with the aim of making it as relevant as possible for students.
This first edition -for pupils of the Formative Cycle 'Tourist guide, information and assistance' of the IES V Centenario of Seville.- will deal with the Islamic SevilleThe city was a key city in the political, economic and cultural fabric of al-Andalus between the 8th and 13th centuries.
This training programme therefore aims to awaken interest in Andalusian heritage as a tourist, cultural and educational resource, fostering respect for diversity, intercultural dialogue and in-depth knowledge of a period that continues to inspire debate, research and even creation. Students are invited to reflect on the connections between cultures and to value the shared legacy as a basis for their work of educated, critical and enriching tourist interpretation.
The classes will be taught by specialists in Islamic history, art and architecture from different universities.
