Three with books discusses 'The Foreign Daughter' with the Social Insertion Centre

Details

Start:
6 October 2016
End:
10 November 2016

Once again this year, with the support of Obra Social "La Caixa", the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo continues to work with the project Three with books in collaboration with the Luis Jiménez de Asúa'' Social Insertion Centre (CIS) of Seville, and we do it again with a work by the Spanish writer of Moroccan origin Najat El Hachmi.

We start this season with 'The Foreign Daughter'. (Destino) where El Hachmi puts us in the shoes of a woman in uncertain terrain: between two nationalities, between two languages, between reality and desire. A work originally written in Catalan that helps us to understand what it is to be 'the other'.

The Fundación Tres Culturas thus aims to make the cultural wealth of the Mediterranean known to this kind of public, contributing to the social inclusion through an enriching cultural offering. This is a vitally important task in such a depressed and marginalised environment as prisons, where there is a high level of illiteracy and a lack of interest in reading. In this way, a whole new world of interests is opened up to our participants and they are offered, through reading, other points of view from which to conceive their own reality.

Tres con libros' is a project of the cultural agenda of the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo that began in 2009 with the aim of working to promote reading, the dissemination of Mediterranean authors and the development of initiatives aimed at enriching the cultural heritage through diversity.

In 2014, thanks to the donation received by the La Caixa" Welfare Projects, we launched a parallel experience to the Tres con libros reading club at the CIS "Luis Jiménez de Asúa'' in Seville. In this way, the Fundación Tres Culturas continued the social work started in March 2012, when it collaborated in the creation of the Seville I Penitentiary Centre Reading RoomThe project was supported by a loan of around twenty copies of the book '.The Ashes of Baghdad'. (Almuzara), a work by Antonio Lozano inspired by the life of Professor Waleed Saleh.
