The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation presents a new series of shows aimed at schoolchildren, both in primary and secondary education, with the aim of introducing them to the history of our ancestors through stories, music and Mediterranean rhythms: legends, lullabies, love songs and songs of festivities told and sung by the grandmothers of our great-great-grandmothers in a time of coexistence between Christians, Muslims and Jews.
The programme 'Mediterranean Fridays' brings together different shows that include audiovisuals and didactic texts through which a journey through the enormous variety of stories, sounds and rhythms of Mediterranean culture is proposed by great artists and connoisseurs of the same.
In the shows, as well as learning about the different types of music, students will also be able to see and enjoy stringed and percussion instruments of Arab, Oriental, Sephardic and other Mediterranean origin, from the daf Egyptian to the Turkish Tablet, the dohollathe riqthe tar and an innumerable collection of tambourines.
We begin this programme of free shows for schoolchildren on Friday 6 October.
Recommended ages range from 5 to 16 years old.
