la Caixa" Banking Foundation will contribute €50,000 to promote coexistence between cultures.
The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and "la Caixa" Welfare Projects signed a collaboration agreement this morning at Caixabank's regional office in Western Andalusia to carry out activities to promote coexistence between cultures.
Over two years, "la Caixa" Welfare Projects will contribute an amount of €50,000 to develop actions that help to promote democratic values and practices, as well as to recognise the contribution of the three great monotheistic religions to the cultural construction of the Mediterranean area.
José Manuel Cervera, director of the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, acknowledged "the effort and commitment made by "la Caixa" Welfare Projects to make this great opportunity to establish links between two institutions that share a common vision: the rapprochement of cultures and religions".
For more than fifteen years, the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation has been working to promote dialogue, peace and tolerance among the peoples and cultures of the Mediterranean.
Rafael Herrador, territorial director of Caixabank in Western Andalusia, and Rafael Chueca, corporate director of the territorial area and centres of the "la Caixa" Banking Foundation, pointed out that this new contribution is a further step in the collaboration that we have been developing in recent years with this Foundation.
la Caixa" Welfare Projects consolidated its activity in 2015 with the aim of building a better and fairer society, giving opportunities to the people who need them most. Last year, through Welfare Projects, it attended to 9.9 million beneficiaries who took part in 46,209 initiatives. For 2016, the institution has a budget of 500 million euros, the same amount as in the previous eight years and which consolidates it as the most important foundation in Spain in terms of resources invested in social action and one of the most important in Europe and the world. Social programmes will continue to be a priority this year, with the fight against child poverty and the promotion of employment as the main flagships.
