The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation pre-selects the Spanish candidates for the upcoming 2017 expeditions to the Omani desert in the framework of the project Connecting Cultures. This initiative, which began in 2014, has so far carried out 16 expeditions made up of groups of 18 young people from East and West who live together in the desert for five days, participating in activities that promote the values of diversity, respect and common learning. The project is more necessary than ever to help avoid stereotypes through dialogue, identifying commonalities and appreciating differences.
Connecting Cultures is supported by UNESCO, the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, the Qaboos Cultural Centre and the MBI Al Jaber Foundation.
Those young Spaniards interested in participating in this selection, whose final candidate will be chosen by the Connecting Cultures organisation in Oman, should send the required documentation. before 19 October 2016 to the Fundación Tres Culturas in accordance with the terms of the published call.

The candidates selected by the Connecting Cultures organisation in Oman and who will be part of the 2017 expedition are:
–María Gómez López
Art historian specialising in contemporary art from the Arab world following her MA studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London. She is currently working on her PhD on contemporary artistic production in North Africa, the Middle East and the diaspora, focusing on exploring processes of identity construction through inhabitation and belonging to place.
– Pablo Pérez Fernández
Graduate in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada. After completing these studies, he continued his training in the United Kingdom and Greece, where he is currently studying for a Master's degree in International Public Administration. At a very young age, he decided to dedicate himself to the study of other languages motivated by his interest in intercultural mediation, familiarising himself with the diverse realities that exist in the world. His participation in volunteer projects and political activism in different countries in Europe and the Maghreb has led him to specialise in the area of international public administration since his academic training.
