After the candle-lighting ceremony and the recital by the Aquitania group on 28 January, this commemoration is complemented by the events scheduled for the 30th of this month, in collaboration with the Centro Sefarad-Israel. Thus, at 11 a.m., the film The Budapest angel followed by a debate led by Graciela Kohan, advisor to the Holocaust Council of Centro Sefarad-Israel.

The film The Budapest Angel The story of the Chargé d'Affaires of the Spanish diplomatic legation in Budapest, who, with the help of the Hungarian employees of the embassy and other collaborators, managed to confront the Nazi barbarity that had been established in Hungary.

In April 1944, SS Lieutenant Colonel Adolf Eichman moves into the city and begins the deportation of Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz. In 56 days alone, 437,000 Jews were sent to the extermination camps. Ángel Sanz-Briz (Saragossa 1910 - Rome 1980) used all the resources at his disposal as representative of the Spanish state to save as many lives as possible. To this end, the Aragonese diplomat issued thousands of letters of protection guaranteeing immunity to their bearers, in many cases circumventing the German authorities and their Hungarian collaborators.

Until December 1944, when he had to leave Budapest, Angel Sanz-Briz managed to protect around 5,000 Jews. Since then, he has been known as 'the angel of Budapest', and was awarded the title of 'Righteous Among the Nations' by Israel.
