On 30 November and 1 December in Seville, the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo is organising the forum 'Geopolitical situation and values in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. A State of the Question and Future Prospects', with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Moroccans Resident Abroad and Migration Affairs, and the collaboration of Casa Árabe and the Spanish Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation.
On the one hand, on a socio-political level, it will reflect on the possibility of managing and controlling today's challenges with the patterns and institutions of the past and analyse what would be the most appropriate EU policy towards the Mediterranean, considering current and future scenarios.
On the other hand, from a cultural and religious dimension, we will delve into the reasons why there are evident attempts to instrumentalise the cultures and religions of the Mediterranean to serve the cause of fracture and the negation of the art of coexistence, which has usually been present in the Mediterranean space.
In short, a specialised analysis is needed to clarify all these issues in order to avoid confrontation and misrepresentation of values. A state of affairs in which examples of good practice (such as Tunisia's democratic evolution or Morocco's pragmatic approach in its relations with Spain) are highlighted and extrapolated would undoubtedly serve to reverse these trends, as well as to provide a glimpse of what will happen in the future.
The forum programme is organised into debate sessions on different topics and led by internationally renowned experts on different subjects such as: Yossie Beilin, James M. Dorsey, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Jean-Marie Heydt and Tomás Alcoverro, among others.
This forum is part of the programme 'Alqantara: bridges for dialogue and coexistence', which encompasses a series of cooperation actions arising from the strategic partnership developed between the Three Cultures Foundation and the Ministry in charge of Moroccan Communities Residing Abroad and Migration Affairs.
