Tres Festival, Voices from the Mediterranean' culminates with the writers participating in the festival joining the Grenada Declaration

The writers participating in the 'Tres Festival, Voices of the Mediterranean' bring their voices together in the Grenada DeclarationThe festival, organised by the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Moroccans Living Abroad and Migration Affairs, was the result of days of debate held in the Nasrid city from 28 to 30 April. The festival, organised by the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Moroccans Residing Abroad and Migration Affairs, was a shared space for reflection on current issues in the Mediterranean, such as political transitions following the Arab Spring, migration and the origins of terrorism.

The declaration highlights the shared values in the Mediterranean basin".based on basic principles of humanity and civilisation, such as freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation, respect for pluralism and cultural diversity.

The critical spirit that has flooded the sessions of 'Three Festival, voices from the Mediterranean' is present in the Granada Declaration, which includes a request to national and European authorities to "comply with the spirit and the letter of international conventions on this matter, in particular the Geneva Convention on the Right of Asylum and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, art. 19, which prohibits collective expulsions; all documents adopted by the EU and which protect respect for the dignity of refugees".

The Granada Declaration reflects a common will for change, taking as a reference the words of the wise man Averroes - Ibn Rushd: "I understand freedom as the will born of reflection".

The festival is part of the programme  ALQANTARA: bridges for dialogue and coexistenceThe Three Cultures Foundation and the Ministry in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad and Migration Affairs aim to address the major debates in today's Mediterranean area.

Declaration: coexistence is possible; dialogue is necessary.
