The Fundación Tres Culturas presents the Spanish diplomas to the Moroccan seasonal workers who have taken part in the classes of the IntegrARTE Programme in Huelva.

The Fundación Tres Culturas yesterday presented the end-of-course diplomas to the Moroccan seasonal workers who have attended the Spanish classes organised within the framework of the IntegrARTE Programme, aimed at workers from the neighbouring country who have travelled to the province of Huelva to work in the red fruit campaign.

This emotional ceremony, organised at the Agromartín farm in Lepe, was attended by the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Seville, Farid Aoulouhaj; the head of Strategic Planning at the Fundación Tres Culturas, Antonio Chaves; and Isabel Martín, as a representative of this company. They were in charge of distributing the diplomas among some 40 women, who received them on behalf of the 325 women seasonal workers who have participated in this initiative during the current agricultural campaign, in which 13 of these courses have been organised.

The classes, which not only provided basic training in Spanish, but also awareness-raising talks on various useful topics (such as the responsible use of PIN numbers to operate ATMs and issues related to everyday procedures), were held in those areas with a significant presence of these seasonal workers, such as Cartaya, Almonte, Palos de la Frontera, Moguer, Rociana and Lepe.

This training, which continues similar actions developed by Tres Culturas since 2010, is part of the IntegrARTE programme, an initiative of the Foundation in which the Spanish, Andalusian and, above all, Moroccan authorities have been involved, with the important presence of the Ministry Delegate in charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad and the Ministry of Labour and Professional Insertion of the Kingdom of Morocco.

It is also worth highlighting the support of the strawberry sector, as in the case of the company Agromartín, recognised with the Andalusia Prize for Migration for its good practices, or Doñana 1998 S.L., located in Almonte.

As its name suggests, IntegrARTE is a comprehensive programme that includes all kinds of proposals to ensure that Moroccan seasonal workers feel accompanied, safe, carry out their agricultural work in decent conditions and make the most of their free time with educational and cultural activities. To this end, in addition to these Spanish courses, a calendar of cultural and leisure activities has been programmed, with theatrical performances in Arabic, concerts of popular-Shaabi music and a celebration of Ramadan, which brought together more than 150 of these women in Seville, at the headquarters of the Fundación Tres Culturas, on 31 May, where they shared the ceremony of iftar, or breaking of the fast.
