The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation continues to work on strengthening cross-border cooperation between neighbouring countries such as Spain and Portugal; in accordance with the European Union's objectives of equality, sustainability, inclusion, digitalisation and territorial cohesion and the agreements resulting from the 35th Spanish-Portuguese Summit. This collaboration is evident in the launch of the third phase of the project ‘INTREPIDA Pro. Internationalisation of Businesswomen from Spain and Portugal towards Integration, Development and Alliances.
INTREPIDA aims to facilitate activities that are not only of interest to female entrepreneurs from Spain and Portugal but also offers unique encounters with established businesswomen, those already well-known. Intrepid quotes, which are events open to all citizens who wish to learn more about the various business proposals.
For nearly three years, there will be celebrated Four international forums dedicated to female entrepreneurs from different sectors in both countries, which will be held in Andalusia (in the capital city of Seville and in the province of Cadiz) and in Portugal (in the cities of Évora and Loulé). The project will continue to work on and expand the digital guide of female entrepreneurs Euroregion Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia, thereby contributing to greater dissemination and visibility for businesswomen from both countries, bringing them closer to potential future clients. The new feature in this new phase of the project is the training in AI for business management and everyday life.
There are many testimonials from businesswomen and citizens that have encouraged us to continue with this project. As Algarve businesswoman Silvia Rodrigues from the company SIGUES has said: “I would be very happy if INTREPIDA returned, as I really like the programme, I have always enjoyed participating in it, and from INTREPIDA excellent opportunities arose for me and my work that I will never forget.”.
This new phase of the project, which began in 2017 and is dedicated to female entrepreneurship in the regions of Andalusia, Algarve and Alentejo, has two new partners: the Bahía de Cádiz Foundation for the Algarve Region Economic Development and Business Association, NERA, who join a partnership that has from its inception had the Huelva County Development Commonwealth and the Évora Region Business Centre, with the coordination of the Tres Culturas Foundation.
This institution, which has recently been recognised by UNESCO as a Category 2 centre, is joining with this project the various events commemorating International Women's Day, with the aim of making the enormous contribution of women to the economy and society of any country more visible. The INTREPIDA project significantly contributes to several of the identified Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), primarily SDG 5, Gender equality, SDG 8, Decent work and economic growth, and SDG 10, Reduced inequalities.
The INTREPIDA project falls within the sixth call for project proposals of the programme Interreg Spain-Portugal (POCTEP) 2021-2027, the EU’s largest cross-border cooperation programme, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. This programme funds the 75% project with a total budget of €684,219.
