One of the aims of the project 'The words we are' is to highlight how the Andalusian identity is shaped by the multiplicity of peoples and civilisations that have inhabited it since Antiquity.
The interculturality of practices, habits and ways of life that characterises the Andalusian identity is built on a historical plurality, and is manifested, as the Andalusian Statute of Autonomy states, 'in a tangible and intangible cultural heritage, dynamic and changing, popular and cultured, unique among the cultures of the world'.
Knowing our origins and our history is fundamental to understanding who we are.
The words we use in our daily lives are full of content, and this project aims to delve into the meaning of words and find out where they come from, how they have evolved and how we use them today. Language is part of our identity, it differentiates us, unites us and identifies us.
This series of micro-documentaries will be hosted on the Fundación Tres Culturas website.
