MOROCCO IN SPAIN

The Three Cultures Foundation and the Ministry in Charge of Moroccans Living Abroad conclude their cycle of activities dedicated to Moroccan culture throughout 2013.

The edition that is now coming to an end has mainly taken place in Andalusia and Morocco, although it has also been extended to other locations in Spain.  

In the Canary Islands, for example, on 4 May, several musical performances were held as part of the II Encuentro de la Comunidad Marroquí in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria) by the folklore groups Nassim and Basido. 

On 26 and 27 June, the Hassan II pavilion hosted the second edition of a seminar dedicated to Andalusian and Moroccan women entrepreneurs in rural areas. A meeting that also featured a street market of Moroccan and Andalusian products. 

During the summer season, Morocco in Spain  continued with various activities. In June we celebrated intercultural week at our headquarters. A programme especially designed for children, with performances such as storytelling, theatre and other entertaining proposals that combine fun and teaching values.

Tres Culturas continued to hold seminars, workshops and meetings, training courses, etc. A good example of this are the Spanish Classes for Moroccan Immigrants, the second quarter of which continues to be held in Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba and Seville, and the workshops to help in the search for employment. Personal Planning for Employability, which were given in person in Seville and also online.

With regard to the educational offer, the Classical Arabic courses for the children of Moroccan immigrants, the third edition of the guitar and lute courses, the training workshops on hotel and catering, and the second edition of the Cultural Management and Development course, among other proposals.

Another focus of action has been the world of sport - with activities aimed above all at young people - which have been held both in Andalusia and Morocco. Thus, we repeated the experience of the Campus de Español en el Ámbito Deportivo in the cities of Tetuan and Tangier. A project that allows the participating children to learn and practice Spanish in the framework of a football school.

In September, the First Three Cultures Youth Football Tournament was also held, and in November the Diverbasket Circuit was held in El Ejido, Almería, a fun day in which, through the practice of basketball, values such as solidarity and the importance of the spirit of collaboration are instilled in the young participants.

In 2014, the cycle Morocco in Spain will once again focus on cultural events (such as exhibitions, concerts, film screenings and literary presentations) and on educational activities, mainly aimed at two sectors of the population: women and young people.
