Creations in progress. Dance in singular spaces
The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo is collaborating with the festival Mes de Danza 23, becoming one of the singular spaces of this festival, and thus participating in one of the sections of the Month of Dance 23 called Creations in progress, which in turn is part of the Euro-Mediterranean training project 'Shapers'.
In the context of this programme and of the Month of Dance 23, there will be a ten-day creative residency at the headquarters of the Fundación Tres CulturasThe result will be presented in the form of a show at the foundation's headquarters.
The company 'Ex Nihilo has been in charge of setting up this pedagogical dance project in public and unique spaces with young dancers selected within the framework of different workshops in their countries of origin. Thus, throughout 2016, we have been carrying out a selection of dancers of different nationalities (Egypt, Morocco, France and Seville). And it will be the selected performers, now in artistic residence at the Fundación Tres Culturas in collaboration with Mes de Danza 23, who will be responsible for presenting the results of their work.
The meeting will take place on 28 October at 5 p.m. in the Andalusian gardens of the Fundación Tres Culturas.
This will be followed in 2017 by artistic residencies in Marseille and other destinations, and finally in the autumn of the same year, the premiere of the show created collectively at the Festival Mes de Danza 24.
Shapers' project
Shapers', a Euro-Mediterranean training project, is hosted within the framework of Dance Month 23 as part of its programme. Creations in progress. It is a device that provides tools for the training of performers in the choreographic scene of the Mediterranean area in public and unique spaces. It is jointly conceived from various structures dedicated to the dissemination of the language of contemporary dance, carried out in collaboration with various entities that have been working for years and are based in different countries of the Mediterranean area, specifically France, Spain, Egypt, Morocco and Bosnia Herzegovina.
The company Ex Nihilo
French company directed by Anne Le Batard and Jean-Antoine Bigot, Ex Nihilo has been working for twenty years in outdoor spaces, inviting us to see dance in unusual places converted into special stages for the occasion, taking street dance to new heights of presentation and thought.
Ex Nihilo's work is presented as a tool of enormous richness that approaches the public, the passer-by, from the street, that vindicates the use of public space, and that undoubtedly represents a tool of enormous interest in the sense of choreographic methodology and vital experience for any artist.
The professionalisation of emerging artists, collective creation, mutual learning from different contexts and opportunities, the 'gesture' as a tool for reflection on the social, the public space as a space for vindication and reflection and the dissemination of contemporary dance in new contexts and new audiences, are some of the main objectives of the work of the company Ex Nihilo. These aims are also perfectly in line with the objectives that the Month of Dance festival has always pursued.
