Library news round table New technologies, new users: a cross-cultural approach in libraries

Today we live in a society characterised by the diversity of cultures and religions. It is therefore necessary that there are guidelines that allow for the integration of different cultures in each and every one of the services and activities offered in the community. At In this sense, libraries and their professionals play an important role in the information literacy (according to experts, this term is defined as "knowing when and why information is needed, where to find it and how to use it") and intercultural literacy of society.

 

The specialised library of the Tres Foundation Cultures has been working on this important work for several years. It has therefore organised, in collaboration with the Information Resource Centre of the Embassy The event will be held on 25 May, with the participation of professionals in the field of librarianship. Among them, we would like to highlight Isabel Espinal, librarian at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, expert in women and gender, minority integration, user training and information literacy.
