The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and the Ministry in Charge of Moroccans Residing Abroad and Migration Affairs are organising a round table to round off the tribute that Three Cultures has been paying to the Moroccan writer Mohamed Chukri throughout 2014.
Coinciding with the publication by Cabaret Voltaire of Faces, loves, cursesthe last instalment of the trilogy on his life, we will close the cycle we started in January by reading Plain bread and we continue in October with Time for errorsThe exhibition will also feature the testimonies of people who knew this 'cursed' writer during his lifetime.
Thus, in addition to watching the video with the interview we did with Bernardo Atxaga, we will have the presence of the journalist and director of the Andalusian Centre of Letters Juan José Téllez; the journalist and writer Javier Valenzuela; the translator Rajae Boumediane El-Metni; and Juan José Ponce, director of the documentary film Damn streetThe screening of the film will also give us the opportunity to see and hear Chukri himself. The debate session will be moderated by the cultural critic Fran G. Matute.
Damn street

A journey through the streets of Tetouan and Tangiers through the eyes and testimonies of those who are forced to inhabit them: the children. Their misfortunes and desires show us the ins and outs of a whole society, and remind us of the past of a former street child himself: Mohamed Chukri.
