On Monday 15 December, the Three Cultures Foundation took a key step in the preservation and enhancement of its historic headquarters with the first technical visit by a delegation of Moroccan craftsmen, a milestone that marked the beginning of the process of refurbishing and renovating the Hassan II Pavilion.
Institutional framework and origin of the project
This project is part of the agreement signed recently in Essaouira by the Foundation's co-presidents: Patricia del Pozo, Minister of Culture and Sport of the Andalusian Regional Government, and André Azoulay, advisor to His Majesty the King of Morocco.
This agreement, together with Moroccan institutions such as the Maison de l'Artisan, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Hassan II Mosque Foundation, opened a new stage of collaboration on crafts, culture and heritage shared between Andalusia and Morocco.
First technical visit
The event was hosted by Macarena O'Neill, Vice-Minister of Culture and Sport of the Andalusian Regional Government; Dounia Del Lero, Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco; and Mar Ahumada, Director of the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation.
The Moroccan institutional and technical delegation included Majid Kaissar El Ghaib, Director Curator of the Hassan II Mosque Foundation; Moha Errich, Director of Heritage Preservation at the State Secretariat for Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy; and Tarik Sadik, Director of the Maison de l'Artisan.
Members of the Three Cultures Foundation team and the technical team of the Hassan II Mosque Foundation were also present.
This day reinforced institutional and cultural cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean and laid the foundations for a key initiative for heritage conservation, reaffirming the common commitment of Andalusia and Morocco to the preservation of their shared heritage, the promotion of traditional craftsmanship and the strengthening of dialogue between cultures.
