is pleased to present Salah Cherki in concert.

Born in Salé, Morocco, in 1923, Salah Cherki became interested in music and various instruments at an early age. He was particularly fascinated by the Kanun (Arabic sitar), acquiring such mastery of it that he ended up applying scientific and modern rules to its use.

Salah Cherki became a spokesman for Moroccan music, exposing its origins, its wealth of styles and rhythms in the United States, Russia, Iran, Iraq,... He also published several studies on Moroccan music and on that instrument that he masters to perfection, the Kanun.
