The Tres Culturas Foundation and the Beit Rambam Community will celebrate the Jewish festival of Hanukkah on 4 December (from 8 p.m.) with a series of events that will culminate with a concert of klezmer music. The director of the Foundation, Elvira Saint-Gerons, will inaugurate this special programme with the signing of a collaboration agreement between Tres Culturas and the Progressive Jewish Community of Andalusia, Beit Rambam, whose president, David Pozo Pérez, will also be present.
After the signing, Leonardo Faiersztein and Varda Fiszbein, members of Beit Rambam's board of directors, will explain the meaning and historical origins of the festival of Hanukkah, one of the most deeply rooted traditions among the Jewish population, both in the Diaspora and in Israel. Afterwards, the candles of the chanukiah, the eight-branched candelabra symbolising each of the eight days of the so-called Feast of Lights, will be lit.
The ceremony will conclude with a concert by the group Yomuri, an original group from Seville in which various genres of traditional music converge, with special emphasis on klezmer music and incorporating swing, Balkan rhythms and tango into the repertoire.
In this video you can find a sample of the diversity of Yomuri's rhythms.
