A teenage Ibn Battuta welcomes the players and invites them to join him on some of the stops on his mythical journeys; then all they have to do is watch a video and roll the dice to play and, above all, learn. This is how the App starts Ibn Battuta. The adventure beginsa free application for iPad with an eminently educational and informative character that will be presented at Fundación Tres Culturas on 26 November (at 12.00 noon).
Elvira Saint-Gerons, director of the Foundation, will be responsible for contextualising the importance of this proposal, insofar as it focuses on the figure of this traveller and expeditionary from Tangiers to whom Tres Culturas and the Ministry of Moroccans Living Abroad have been dedicating their Cross-Border School of Interculturality for Young People for two years, which is developed with the collaboration of the Andalusian Youth Institute.
The director will be joined by Rafael Galante, the creator of this application, which has won the 5th CREATE UNAOC Award for the best application of the year aimed at improving intercultural dialogue, awarded by the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations.
In addition, we will have three pairs of contestants, Andalusian and Moroccan boys and girls who will show in situ the development of the game, while competing against each other. In this way, the attendees will be able to follow first-hand the adventures of Ibn Battutta in the lands of al-Andalus, Morocco, Egypt..., while they acquire knowledge of history, geography, art and other disciplines related to the Arab-Andalusian culture.
In short, it is an application designed to improve integration in a multidirectional way, fostering respect through a better knowledge of cultures and their interrelation. Hence, the interest of Fundación Tres Culturas in organising this presentation, as one of the guiding principles of this institution is to promote dialogue, tolerance and respect between the different peoples of the Mediterranean, through a better knowledge of their cultures.
