The Fundación Tres Culturas and Casa Árabe, with the collaboration of Libros del Asteroide, are hosting the presentation in Seville of the book Frankenstein in Baghdadby novelist, poet and screenwriter Ahmed Saadawi.
Saadawi has been one of Iraq's most important literary voices since 2010, when he was included in Beirut39, a selection of the 39 most important writers under 40 in Arab literature. His work Frankenstein in Baghdad has received awards such as the International Prize for Arab Fiction (2014) and the Grand Prix de L'Imaginaire (2017), and was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize (2018). In it, she reflects how violence has already become part of the daily reality of her country.
She talks to Spanish journalist Laura Jiménez Varo, an expert on the Middle East, about the reasons for and consequences of the brutality of war.
