For yet another year, the Fundación Tres Culturas is dedicating its March film programme to the work of women filmmakers, as part of the celebration of International Women's Day on the 8th of this month.
The presence of women in all fields of international audiovisual creation, especially in directing, is increasing, offering us a feminine vision of a multitude of themes and contents that attract the attention of festivals and audiences.

Papicha. Dreams of freedom. Mounia Meddour. Algeria, 2019, 106 min.
Algeria, 1990s. Eighteen-year-old Nedjma, a student living in the university town of Algiers, dreams of becoming a hairdresser and refuses to let the tragic events of the Algerian civil war prevent her from leading a normal life. At nightfall, she slips through the nets of the city's wire fence with her best friends to go to the discotheque where she sells her creations to the 'papichas', the young Algerian girls. The political and social situation in the country continues to worsen. Nedjma refuses to accept the radicals' prohibitions and decides to fight for her freedom and independence by organising a fashion show.
