In June, the Fundación Tres Culturas, in collaboration with the French Institute, is offering a film series based on the particular vision of male and female directors on different themes.
The camera will lead us to the space and time of the protagonists and will show us how the choice of shot types, camera angles... and, in short, a certain cinematographic language will be decisive in order to empathise with the story and the characters.
We will meet complex characters with their inner conflicts as portrayed by a French director, Lucie Borleteau, and a Moroccan writer in Chanson doucebased on the book by French-Moroccan writer Leila Slimani, winner of the Prix Goncourt in 2016.
We will feel the freshness of adolescence through the camera game that the young Malaga-born Pablo Lavado shows us in his debut film, Oiland we will suffer with the inner conflict shown by Tunisian Mohamed Ben Attiaen in Hedi. We will enjoy the long musical journey of My Africa by French filmmakers Richard Minier and Edouard Saliero, a documentary that began filming in 1999 and was completed in 2018.
And as a finale, we will have an African animation session consisting of an original feature film, Le Francby Senegal's Djibril Diop Mambéty, A very special gift by Nido Essa, which comes to us from Mozambique, and the short film Azumah: The Ghanaian Hero, by Ghana's Nii Ofei-Kyei Dodoo.
