As part of the celebration of the Month of Cultural Diversity, the Fundación Tres Culturas hosts the presentation of the cookbook Andalusian cuisine and poetry for Muslimsby Moroccan Arabist Abdessamad Lahib Dabaj.
Abdessamad Lahib Dabaj holds a degree in Arabic Philology from the University of Marrakech and a PhD from the University of Granada. The author defines himself as an amateur cook and a lover of Andalusia, where he has lived permanently since 1993.
Andalusian cuisine and poetry for Muslims ands a 368-page colour work containing 128 recipes from the traditional Andalusian recipe book, 16 recipes for each of the Andalusian provinces illustrated with high quality photos that capture the essence of easy, balanced, healthy dishes. As for the poetry book, the book compiles 80 short poems, 10 per province, by poets who were born in or have been directly linked to them. It is a journey through flavours and poetry from the dawn of the Andalusian period to the present day. The author has combined traditional culinary language with refined poetic language as an expression of Andalusian identity. The work has a markedly informative sense in which the author has tried to adapt the traditional recipe book to the culinary rules of the Muslim tradition.
The book is available in English, French, Arabic and Spanish.
The author will be in conversation with Fátima Roldán Castro, Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Seville.
After the presentation, attendees will be able to enjoy a tasting of tea and Arab sweets.
Book sale and book signing after the talk.
