ARTR3S film series (Malaga): 'Narrating realities: Mediterranean perspectives'

Details

  • Start: 8 June 2016
  • End: 9 June 2016

With the aim of tackling the major debates in the current Mediterranean area, we are organising this cycle to disseminate the multiple and complex field of cinema related to the media, especially documentary film. We also aim to draw attention to the diverse and topical themes addressed.

We believe it is important to promote a reflection on the various processes that originate around us that need to be narrated and filmed in order to be known, to create opinion, to appeal to consciences and to situate us in new realities.

Neighbourhood relations, the situation of women in different countries, citizens' movements, the Arab Spring, immigration and the history of Casablanca are the themes explored in this cycle.

The screenings will take place at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (C/Alemania, S/N, 29001 Málaga) at 20:00h, with free admission until full capacity is reached.

Synopsis

Tunisia, summer 2010, just a few months after the revolution. Farah, 18, has just finished high school and her family already sees her studying medicine. But she does not share this desire. She sings in a politically committed rock band, gets drunk and spends her nights discovering love and her city against the wishes of her mother Hayet, who knows Tunisia and its dangers all too well.

ARTR3S Malaga is organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Moroccans Living Abroad and Migration Affairs through the programme 'Alqantara: bridges for dialogue and coexistence', in collaboration with Malaga City Council, the University of Malaga, the Centre of Contemporary Art of Malaga, the Anna Lindh Foundation, the Port of Malaga, the Malaga Press Association, the Association of Journalists of Andalusia in Malaga and the Andalusian Public Company of Tourism.
