Coinciding with the celebration of the Morocco in Three Cultures programme, the Foundation is offering a cycle dedicated to Moroccan cinema in November. in collaboration with the Akida Festival and Mobile Film Festival.

A new generation of men and women who have decided to direct and tell stories of their country through Moroccan cinema are making their way into the most prestigious international festivals. Some of these Moroccan directors already have an established international career and others are beginning to make their mark in the industry in a country with a great film tradition.

WE WILL HAVE THE PRESENCE OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE DOCUMENTARY

The documentary portrays the journey of two Jewish-Moroccan musicians, Neta Elkayam and Amit Haï Cohen, to Morocco. From one musical encounter to another, this journey will change their perception of who they are and who they want to become, and help them create new connections with the homeland of their ancestors.

About Kamal Hachkar

Born in 1977 in Tinghir, Morocco, into a Berber family. At the age of only six months, he left Morocco with his mother for France, where his father had been working as a labourer since 1968. However, he made regular visits to Tinghir during the summer holidays. Kamal obtained a master's degree in medieval history of the Muslim worlds at the Sorbonne University and has been teaching since 2005.

In 2013 Kamal Hachkar made his first documentary, Tinghir-Jerusalem: Les Échos du mellah. The film, set during the French protectorate in Morocco, is about the life and coexistence of Muslim and Jewish Berber families in Tinghir during desperate times.
