The Fundación Tres Culturas and the Essaouira Mogador Association are organising the 16th edition of the Festival of Atlantic Andalusias in the Moroccan city of Essaouira, which will be held from 31 October to 3 November.
The Festival de las Andalucías Atlánticas welcomes musicians from different parts of the Mediterranean who highlight the Judeo-Arabic heritage and the link between the music of Al Andalus and Andalusian flamenco today.
On this occasion, the Fundación Tres Culturas' proposal is based on the show 'Fragmentos JRT', presented in collaboration with the Seville Flamenco Biennial. It is a journey through different flamenco styles constructed with some of the choreographies of the show 'JRT', inspired by the painter Julio Romero de Torres.
This show was presented with great success at the XIX Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla 2016 after its premiere at the Festival de Jerez 2016 and has been a great success at the prestigious festivals Flamenco Madrid 2017 and Flamenco Festival London 2018.
The quality and virtuosity of the experienced dancers Leonor Leal, Úrsula López and Tamara López, the guitarist Alfredo Lagos and the percussion of Raúl Domínguez, accompany the great voice of the cantaora Gema Caballero.
