Synopsis: Fatine, a 17-year-old girl, lives with her mother Nadia, who is a "chikha", in Azemmour, Morocco. She has just passed her baccalaureate exam and has to choose between two opposing paths: committing herself to the family's artistic tradition, or choosing a more risk-averse life with her boyfriend, who despises her heritage.
